One Word From God Changes Everything

All through scripture there is a common thread, and it is this...the word of the Lord CAME.
You see this phrase over and over, "the word of the Lord came."
God loves to send out his word to his people.
He has done this time and time again.
Remember the words of scripture, how the Bible says, "he sent his word and healed them."
Also the Bible says that, "the WORD became flesh and dwelt among us."
God so loves to send his word to help people, that he sent his WORD in human flesh in the person of Jesus.
The common thread of our existence, whether we realize it or not is: THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME.

As you enter this new year, you and I need to recognize that there is still a word from the Lord that is coming to us.
God has something for YOU.
He is trying to tell YOU something important for your life.
The Lord desires to SPEAK to YOU.
Never think that God is so far away that he cannot speak to you, because he can.

In whatever condition you find your life, the word of God can speak into your life.
Our deepest concentration should be to hear the word of the Lord for our life, our family, our church, our purpose, and all that God wants to do in the nation and in the earth.
And while those who pronounce doom and gloom would say that we have no reason to hope, I declare to you that as long as there is a word from God for your life, there is hope, strength, power, and a future.
You CAN hear from God, and furthermore, you NEED to hear from God.
The word of the Lord is always coming our way, if we listen, and I will say it again because of importance: as long as there is a word from God for your life, there is hope, strength, power, and a future.
When you seek the word of the Lord, you will find his voice.
His voice is the way maker in your life.
The word of the Lord makes a way in our life when there is no way.
The word of the Lord breaks down every barrier and wall.
The word of the Lord fights for us and brings us through to the promise of God for our life.
The voice of God splits the sea, opens the door, and controls the situation.
If we do one thing this year, as individuals and as a church, it must be to find, hear, and truly obey the voice of the Lord.
The word of the Lord is coming.
In fact, it is going forth even now.
To hear it, we have to be ready.
SO, here’s the thrust of this post:

No one can find your word FOR you, you have to seek the Lord and listen.
You must be open and available.
That’s what we see in the passage of scripture that I want to read.
Jeremiah 1:1-9 NKJV
[1] The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, [2] to whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. [3] It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
Now, before we launch into Jeremiah’s story, and before you push this away as something that only happened in the Bible...but not today, you and I need to understand that scripture calls us, "kings and priests" unto God.
You are a king and priest with the right and ability to stand before the Lord, just as these men did.
You have the privilege of being able to come into the holy place of the Lord and feel his presence and see his glory.
Therefore, you also have the privilege of hearing the word of the Lord.
There is a word for you, don’t give up until you hear it.
It will impact everything about your life in the upcoming season.
Now listen to what the Lord said to Jeremiah, because it also applies to us.
[4] Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: [5] "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations."
In this same way, God knew you!
Before you were ever born, God knew you and had a plan for you.

The Lord had a plan for your life in your current season, before you ever reached this season.
Not only that, but God set you apart.
That’s what it means to be sanctified. It simply means that God set you apart for his purposes.
For Jeremiah, his purpose was to be a prophet to the nations.
But I would go so far to say that YOU are a prophet.
  • You are called to speak to situations.
  • You are called to speak to circumstances.
  • You are called to speak to the mountain and tell it to move.
Not only are you a king and priest before the Lord, but you are a prophet.
The more I learn, and the longer I live, the more I find out first of all, how much I did not know about the Lord, and second, how much of his plan for my life I have not leveraged and used as I should.
We pray and pray and hope and hope...and this is good, but it is not enough.
You are a child of God with the words of God at your disposal. God’s word is your ammunition, meant to be deployed and exploded towards the enemy position surrounding your life.
You can prophesy to the problems you face and tell them to bow to the name of Jesus, and you should.
We find in scripture that God always does his part, we just need to rise up and do our part.
[6] Then said I: "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth."
At first glance, you might look at this scripture and dismiss it, thinking that it could not apply to you.
I certainly could not call myself a "youth" any more, but that is simply the context of the verse, it’s not the point.
The devil and even our fleshly mind, always places a reason in front of our eyes for us to be hindered from our purpose.
Here’s what to do: DON’T LISTEN TO IT.
Here is God, calling Jeremiah, and Jeremiah puts us roadblocks to what God says.
How many times have you or I missed what God wanted to do because we dismissed his voice and declared, "I can’t...I won’t...I never could?"
God, in his mercy returns the play back onto Jeremiah.
[7] But the LORD said to me: "Do not say, 'I am a youth,' For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
I am reminded of the scripture that says, "behold, you shall receive POWER after the Holy Ghost comes upon you and you shall be my witnesses."
  • When God calls you, you ARE ABLE.
  • When God sends you, you CAN DO IT.
  • When the Word of the Lord is in your ear, you can SPEAK IT.
He is telling Jeremiah, "change your words."
Stop cancelling out your future by your mouth.
Just as God had a word for HIM, he also has a word for YOU in this new season.
Listen to what God says next.
[8] Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you," says the LORD.
You don’t have to fear what is coming in the next season of your life, because God is here to deliver you.
He has a word for you.
The word of the Lord is coming if we only listen and receive it.
[9] Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
I love this so much, "I have put MY words in YOUR MOUTH."
Everything comes down to this: GOD IS TRYING TO PUT HIS WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH.
This is the year to let God’s word become, YOUR WORD.
  • To declare over the situation.
  • To speak over the problem.
  • To prophesy to the dry bones in your life.
When the word of the Lord comes out of your mouth with power, it changes things.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NKJV
[3] For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. [4] For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, [5] casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Just as the old saying declares that "prayer changes things," so also does the word of the Lord, uttered from our mouth, change the atmosphere surrounding us.
I know there are people who don’t understand the meaning of this, because it is more than just repeating words of scripture or wishful thinking.
It is about agreement.
When the word of the Lord is in our mouth, and we agree with him IN IT, things begin to turn around in our life.
The Bible says:
Matthew 18:18-19 NKJV
[18] "Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. [19] "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
If this "agreement" is true when two humans agree together, how much more will it come to pass when you are agreeing with God?
More specifically, with God’s Word?
Now, even more specifically, God has an individual word to impart into your life for the upcoming season.
You and I need to listen and get ahold of our specific word for our upcoming season, because you cannot put Gods "word" in your mouth and use it unless you know it.
This was God’s specific word to Jeremiah for his season:
Jeremiah 1:10 NKJV
[10] See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant."
In this same way, there is a word for you for this year.

God has something he wants to speak into your life so that this year is different and BETTER.
God’s desire is to help you overcome and win your battles.
He desires to see you through and prosper you.
The word of the Lord can and should prosper in your mouth, but first you have to hear it.
Set aside some time and ask the Lord for his word.
I’m telling you, God has a word for every season of your life.
It will impact every part of your life.

Most of the time, we simply miss it, and miss the blessings it could impart as well.
Don’t miss it this year.
I’m practicing what I preach too.
I have sought the Lord for a word for my life, and I believe He has given me one.
In fact, for many years now, I do this, and God has never failed to give me a word for the new year.
It serves to direct my steps, give me hope, and clarify my actions.
God has a word for you, but you have to set aside some time and talk to him about it.
Think about the good things coming to your life when you:
- Get God’s word for this year for YOU.
- Agree with him about it.
- Speak it to your situations.
- Praise him for what he has spoken to you.
