God Knows Exactly Where You Are

Sometimes in the middle of our situations, we feel lost.

Lost to the adversity.

Lost in the chaos.

Lost in the decisions and consequences.

We don’t know how to fix the problem or alleviate the circumstance. There are variables that we are unsure of, and the way no longer seems clear.

It’s like going for a hike on a beautiful, sunny day…one without a cloud in the sky. At first, the way is tremendously clear and you easily see which path to take, but as the day draws to a close, the shadows lengthen and darkness blurs your path.

Maybe that’s where you feel like you are right now. Your situation started off in the cloudless rays of daylight, but now darkness looms ahead of you. The path is getting harder and harder to see. You are afraid of losing your way.

If you find yourself in that sort of circumstance, here’s what you need to know…

God knows exactly where you are.

If you are a child of God, there is no circumstance so difficult and mired by thorns that God cannot see you.

He has his eye on you at all times.

There is not a problem that can come your way that can cause God to lose sight of you. The Bible says that God sees every sparrow and knows when each one falls to the ground.

In fact, let’s read that verse.

Matthew 10:29 NLTse – What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.

God is saying that a sparrow isn’t really worth all that much. In fact, a single copper coin could have purchased two sparrows, but even a sparrow, with such limited value is important to God. They are so important that not one will fall to the ground without God knowing about it.

Why does God value something so clearly limited in value? Because it contains life. Life comes from God.

God values life.

God values YOUR life. Your life is much more valuable than a sparrow, so if God watches over birds, how much more will he watch over YOU?

Here’s the answer…God will watch over you limitlessly.

Don’t allow the devil to fool you. At this very moment in time, God is watching over you in your circumstance. Your situation has not spiraled so out of hand that the Lord cannot fix it.

He is WELL ABLE to help you and keep you.

Your are NOT lost…God knows exactly where you are.

When someone is a believer, they are a child of God. As a child of God, the Lord cares infinitely for you. You are literally a part of his heart. There is no way that he could leave you or forsake you because you belong to him.

The very life of God flows inside you. For this reason, at just the right moment, God will come through for you with the answer you need, the help you desire, and the direction you seek.

The Lord’s desire isn’t to test you to the point of exhaustion. He doesn’t place us on the fragile tip of the tree limb and then see if we can make it back safely.

God knows exactly where you are…and help is on the way.

The other day, as we were having a road bulldozed onto our property, a small fire got out into the woods. I was worried because I’d never seen anything like that happen. To my good fortune, a great friend helped put the fire out, and taught me some valuable lessons about firefighting in the process.

I’m saying this to tell you that God knows exactly where the fires are in your life, and he won’t leave you to fight them alone. The Lord will walk beside you every step of the way until the fire is gone.

God will fight for us

Here’s a powerful passage of scripture that highlights what the Lord will do for us…

Psalm 91 NLTse

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Here’s one of the biggest keys about life…

Living under the Lord’s shadow is where life is best.

Often, we get afraid of things we don’t understand or cannot comprehend on our own. But if you stay under the Lord’s shadow, you are sheltered. The things that look so out of control are actually under his control.

Why? Because when you live under the Lord’s shadow, anything that tries to come near you, actually comes near to God as well. He won’t allow anything to harm you. God is our heavenly Father and he cares about us.

2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.

It’s important to notice that WE have to make the declaration about WHO God is in our life. You have the choice of relegating God to the sidelines of your life or letting him be in control.

For God to come alongside us, we have to declare openly and plainly that HE is our refuge.

  • He is our refuge.
  • He is our safety.
  • He is our God.
  • We trust in him.

We don’t create our own safety net, and we cannot adequately protect ourselves. But God has power over even the biggest obstacles, and if we allow him to control our life, he will overrule the devil’s plan for you.

God will overrule the devil

3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.

This is the promise of the Lord for those that trust him.

In reality, this Psalm is a prophetic passage relating to Jesus, but that doesn’t make the promises of this passage any less true for you.

Every promise still applies to us!

This means that when the devil lays a trap for you, he better watch out because he will fall into his own trap. You will be rescued. You will make it out with God’s blessing.

God protects our life from every deadly thing…even disease.

The timing of our deliverance doesn’t always seem right. Sometimes, it seems, God will wait until the last moment to deliver you from the trap…but hold on. He absolutely WILL rescue you.

You are not lost to your circumstances.

God knows exactly where you are…and help is on the way.

4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

In one place the Bible says that every promise of God in Jesus Christ is “yes” and “amen.” We can count on the promises of God. They are true regardless of our present situation.

In fact, the promises of God are MORE than true. They are the lifeline we cling to when we feel as though we’ve fallen. His promises are FAITHFUL. They are armor for your soul and protection for your life.

5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.

6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.

Many people spend their whole life in worry and fear about what might come upon them. They allow fear to rule their life. But God tells us the exact opposite. You and I are never to allow fear to be our master.

Will life throw difficulties our way? Yes.

Will some of those problems seem to have no desirable resolution? Yes.

The severity of the problems we face does not dictate our attitude in response.

attitude of response

A believer’s response to problems is measured in faith, not fear.

So we must become people who are not afraid of the terror at night, or the arrows of the enemy.

The Bible says to “hold up the shield of faith to STOP the fiery arrows of the devil.” Instead of elevating our fear…let’s elevate our faith. Let’s put our faith between us and the arrows that are coming our way.

The next verse tells us why we should do that.

7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.

God is your protector and defender. He is the rock of our salvation on which we lean. He is the firm foundation that will NEVER CRUMBLE underneath your faith.

8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.

9 If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,

This is important.

You and I have to MAKE God our refuge and shelter. He will never come in and “take over” your life. You and I must respond in humility to our situation by handing over the control of our life to the Lord.

  • Make him your refuge.
  • Make him your shelter.

10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.

I love this scripture! Look at the powerful promises it contains. NO EVIL WILL CONQUER YOU!

Not only that, but no plagues from the devil will even come near to your home when God is the refuge and shelter of your life.

Why is this so? The next verse tells us.

11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.

In one Old Testament story, the prophet of the Lord was overwhelmed because he felt all alone. The prophet felt everyone had walked away from God and he was the ONLY ONE left.

But God swiftly reminded him that not only was he NOT ALONE but there was MORE with him than there was AGAINST him.

There are more than enough angels to fight the demons that are trying to destroy your life.

12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.

13 You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.

15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.

16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

God knows exactly where you are…and help is on the way.

You are not lost in your situation.

If you love the Lord, now is the time to press in to him.

The serpents that surround you will be crushed under your feet and the lions will lose their strength in the presence of the Lion of the tribe of Judah that walks beside you.

Don’t let the enemy steal your peace, your faith, your joy or your strength. God has your back and he knows exactly where you are right now.
