Don’t Wait On Revival…Step Into It

Oftentimes, the premise of our spiritual walk is that we are waiting on God to move. We are waiting on revival. We need him to come through FOR US. We want him to make a change in us. We hope that an outpouring of his Spirit is coming.

All of these are noble desires. Who wouldn’t want God to do these things, but maybe there is more to the reality of it all than waiting.

Rather, maybe it’s not us who is waiting at all…maybe it’s God.

Could it be that God is waiting on US to make the move?

What if God needs US to step forward?

Would the outpouring happen if only we would walk towards it?

For years, I have believed that there would be a supernatural revival from God’s Holy Spirit in this church.

I have prayed for him to move upon people and saturate them with his presence.

Why? Because the presence of the Lord is the powerful thing that we need in and on our lives to break bondage, heal sickness, restore lives, and conquer enemies.

When the presence of the Lord enters a place, something tangible and life-changing happens.

So we desperately need the presence of the Lord.

Deep in my heart I have believed for the breath of God to blow in this place so powerfully that it changes us and brings the most people to Jesus.

Furthermore, I believe that God will do exactly THAT, but it may begin differently than I previously thought.

The other morning I was out praying about revival in our church. This prayer is something I’ve done a hundred times.

I really cannot begin to count how many times I’ve asked the Lord for something SO supernatural to take place among us.

Furthermore, he promised me I would see this sort of revival…So I believe God and pray about it.

In the middle this prayer, God spoke to my heart, and here’s what he said:

The Lord continued:

“Don’t wait for revival, YOU enter into revival NOW!

Enter it just as if it was happening right now. ACT as if there were revival happening daily.

Revival from God is not a response to WAITING, rather, it is a result of ACTION!

Let me say that again, because it is the POINT: Revival from God is not a response to WAITING, rather, it is a result of ACTION!

If you need revival to flood your life, then you have to step into it!

It’s just like the scriptures say as they talk about the stream flowing beneath the door of the temple:

Ezekiel 47:1-5 NLT

[1] In my vision, the man brought me back to the entrance of the Temple. There I saw a stream flowing east from beneath the door of the Temple and passing to the right of the altar on its south side.

[2] The man brought me outside the wall through the north gateway and led me around to the eastern entrance. There I could see the water flowing out through the south side of the east gateway.

[3] Measuring as he went, he took me along the stream for 1,750 feet and then led me across. The water was up to my ankles.

[4] He measured off another 1,750 feet and led me across again. This time the water was up to my knees. After another 1,750 feet, it was up to my waist.

[5] Then he measured another 1,750 feet, and the river was too deep to walk across. It was deep enough to swim in, but too deep to walk through.

Revival is a result of ACTION.

You can have the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in YOUR life RIGHT NOW.

Whether anyone else has it or not. Today, God can and will move powerfully in your life.

He has a word for you.

He has an outpouring for you.

He has restoration for you.

You don’t have to wait, you just have to step.

Many people judge revival on the fruits it produces, and rightfully so. But before the fruit, there must be ACTION taken to plant.

Our part of revival is stepping by faith, moving with purpose, and ACTING as if revival were already here.

I don’t mean a FAKE sort of acting…no, rather, I mean taking ACTION in faith, based on the fact that we believe God is here and he is present NOW to revive and restore.

It is ACTION based on what we believe to be true.

Revival in our life or in our church BEGINS with God, and He is ALREADY HERE.

So we simply begin stepping into God’s presence, power, and Holy Spirit like never before.

I want to challenge you to begin to STEP into revival in the areas of your life that need it most.

And most importantly, step into revival in you’re spirit.

Revival from God is not a response to WAITING, rather, it is a result of ACTION!

Notice what happened in this famous passage from scripture:

2 Chronicles 7:1-3 NLT

[1] When Solomon FINISHED PRAYING, fire flashed down from heaven and burned up the burnt offerings and sacrifices, and the glorious presence of the LORD filled the Temple.

[2] The priests could not enter the Temple of the LORD because the glorious presence of the LORD filled it.

[3] When all the people of Israel saw the fire coming down and the glorious presence of the LORD filling the Temple, they fell face down on the ground and worshiped and praised the LORD, saying, “He is good! His faithful love endures forever!”

Solomon had to FINISH PRAYING.

This was his ACT.

This was him STEPPING.

When he did, God showed up.

“Don’t wait for revival, you enter into revival now!

Enter it just as if it was happening right now. ACT as if there were revival happening daily.

Revival from God is not a response to WAITING, rather, it is a result of ACTION!

Now, the Lord didn’t stop talking to me after this, He gave me several areas in which we need to STEP and then I believe he communicated I should preach this message…so I am.

Here is how to STEP into revival and ACT as if it were taking place right NOW…and in so doing the response of the Lord will be to pour out his Spirit in YOU.

* Worship God

* Bless the Lord

* get into his presence

* Allow his word to speak into and penetrate your heart

* from YOUR overflow, change will take place in your situation

John 4:23-24 NLT

[23] But the time is coming-indeed it’s here now-when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.

[24] For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Why do you think that worshipping God will result in revival?

Why do you believe that this is one of the ACTS that will bring the outpouring of the Holy Spirit?

Here’s why…

God is looking for people who will worship him.

He stands ready to pour out himself on those that will truly worship him.

To bring worship to God means that we acknowledge and ascribe glory to him.

It is saying that HE IS the LORD.

When you worship God, God moves NEAR. Whenever God moves NEAR, powerful things take place.

This is only ONE reason that we don’t have to wait on revival to come, but instead, can pursue the presence of God through worship.

Listen to what scripture tells us to do in the book of Psalms:

Psalm 103:1-5 NKJV

[1] Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

[2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:

[3] Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,

[4] Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

[5] Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The word “bless,” in this scripture literally means, “to kneel.”

It means that we honor, recognize, and lift up the Lord…in this instance because of what he can and will do for us.

This is the God who has the ability to do anything, and when you recognize that, and bless him…allowing the posture of your heart to pay him reverence, God is drawn.

To bless God is close to worship, however, it is closest to exuberant PRAISE.

It is also comparable to declaring the good things of God, his power, and what he can do.

SO, these last two thoughts are also the way into thought number three, because to get into the presence of God requires praise.

The Bible declares that he is the Lord that INHABITS the praises of Israel.

He is enthroned upon our praises.

Obviously, God is omnipresent. There is NO PLACE where he is NOT, but to GET INTO HIS PRESENCE means a more up close and personal thing.

You and another person may be together in the same room, but it is NOT the same as being face to face in one another’s presence.

That’s what it means to get into the presence of God.

God loves to pour out on those who will SEEK to be in his presence. All through scripture, this has been a key to the move of God and revival.

Even in the upper room, waiting on the first out pouring of the Holy Spirit, the key was not just that they were in one accord, but rather, THAT THEY WERE THERE AT ALL…SEEKING THE LORD.

Jesus IS the Word.

He is the Word made flesh.

When we allow God’s Word to penetrate our heart, we are actually allowing Jesus to have Lordship in us.

He is able to speak to us, and cause us to know his desires for our life.

Simply put: There is NO greater TOOL for revival than the Word of God.

Every great revival in history started as a result of God’s Word.

Even in scripture, countless times, as the Word of God was simply READ, people would repent and turn to God.

God is drawn to those who love his Word and will Pour himself in and through them.

God doesn’t want to just fill you up, but like we talked about Sunday, he wants to bring you OVERFLOW.

It is this overflow that will finally and completely touch your situation.

God is drawn to those who practice OVERFLOWING by developing their relationship with Jesus and seeking his Spirit.

I want to tell you one more time what God spoke to my heart to preach, and the point of this message:

“Don’t wait for revival, YOU enter into revival NOW!

Enter it just as if it was happening right now. ACT as if there were revival happening daily.

Revival from God is not a response to WAITING, rather, it is a result of ACTION!
