Ecclesiastes 5:19-20 NLT
And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life-this is indeed a gift from God.
Now, don’t think that God hasn’t given you wealth…because he has.
You have breath.
You have a future.
You have hope.
You have heaven as your ultimate home.
And Yes, God has also provided a way for all of your practical needs to be met.
“Give and it shall be given unto you…”
But beyond this, he says, we should ENJOY OUR WORK, and furthermore, ACCEPT our LOT IN LIFE.
In other words, know that God has given us a specific purpose, and that his purpose is GOOD.
This knowledge is a gift from God. But the passage doesn’t stop there.
God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past.
Here’s a secret:
WHEN YOU ARE NOT THANKFUL ENOUGH TO ENJOY THE LIFE YOU HAVE, YOU WILL BROOD AND STEW OVER THE PAST YOU’VE LOST.
Any time you see a person who is caught by the trap of the past, you are looking at someone who has NO HOPE for the present.
You and I have to learn to: CAST OUR PAST ON JESUS.
Even the GOOD things in our past should not hold us captive so much that we miss out on the BETTER THINGS for our FUTURE.
Paul says this:
Philippians 3:12-14 KJV
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do , forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
God HAS PEACE for your life.
YOU CAN LIVE IN IT.
You just have to learn to let go of the past, cast it on Jesus, and choose to live in close relationship with the Lord.
SO, we find that peace DOES come from God, but that in a real sense, the apprehension of peace, or the living out of peace, or the experiencing of peace is a CHOICE.
A choice to live close to Jesus.
A choice to let go of what holds me back.
A choice to focus on the Lord.
A choice to throw my problems away form me and onto God.
If I get good at these things, I won’t have to strive for peace, it will simply be a fruit that grows in my life.
