Satan always attacks your INTIMACY with Jesus.
If he can get you to DRAW BACK, then he knows he will have separated you from your resource, from your provider, from your healer, from your source.
All the promises of God are contained IN JESUS.
So, satan desperately wants to keep your FROM Jesus.
What causes you to draw back from a life-giving, intimate relationship with Jesus…one where you know him deeply and give him all of your heart and life?
I submit to you that the number one reason is FEAR.
The devil wants you to FEAR his attack.
Whether you are brand new to the Christian life or a seasoned, mature believer, the devil wants you to think (consciously or unconsciously) that the closer you get to Jesus, the more the problems seem to come.
The devil wants people to feel like church is a plague.
He is trying to make you believe that if you become deeply rooted in church, bad things will start happening to you.
- your water heater will bust.
- your car will break down.
- your friends will leave you.
- your finances will falter.
The thing is, many times stuff like this is true to some degree.
So people, whether knowingly or unknowingly, start to pull away from their attachment to the house of God because the difficulties and problems seem overwhelming and start to override the good.
The devil wants people to feel like time with God in prayer, or worship is a plague.
Have you ever experienced this?
The more you pray and read the Bible, the harder life seems to become?
It is NO SURPRISE!
The devil hates it when people, including you, draw close to Jesus!
God loves it when we draw close.
God hates it when we draw back.
Here’s what the Bible says:
Hebrews 10:38-39 NLT
And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.” But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.
Choose today to be one of the faithful ones.
No matter what comes or goes in your life, don’t draw back from your relationship and intimacy with Jesus. Closeness is a choice.
